Everything has remained pretty steady with AJ. Nothing new has changed in terms of his prognosis, and he’s been putting on weight. He has had some issues with either fluid or collapsing in his lungs, but that’s been a cyclical ongoing issue and his X-rays looked much better this evening.
That said, the team here wants to do a heart cath tomorrow to check out what his heart looks like in more detail to make sure there aren’t any issues that need addressed before we move on to try extubation again – basically navigating via a catheter in his groin or neck into his heart and checking how things look, injecting dye to follow flow patterns, checking the pressures and oxygen saturations in various parts of his heart… Basically getting in there to make sure everything is working how they would like. If they do find something that they can fix while they’re in there they’ll go ahead and do that while they’re already in.
So tomorrow morning they’ll take him off to the cath lab, we should know more about the results by the afternoon.
Right now we’d just ask for your help to pray that the procedure goes well, that everything is working great, or that whatever they do find may be a simple fix!
