Welcome to cold and flu season. Ugh!
Aaron wasn’t able to come up over Christmas or New Years due to having a cold, so I literally was living at the hospital while he kept his germs away. He was finally better on Sunday, and we were able to have Christmas with his side of the family.
By the end of the day on Sunday I started to have a sore throat. I checked out of the hospital and went home, where I’ve been ever since battling a cold and sinus infection.
Yesterday it seems that AJ may have picked it up too, if not, he has some other bug. He was apparently fussy and they opted to put in an IV and started some cultures – some of which have come back positive already. His IV ended up having to be placed in his head. As much as I hate head IVs, at least he has his arms and feet free. Trying to look at the bright side!
He’s started to have a few more PVCs than usual as well so they’re doing an echo today to see if he’s outgrowing his shunt earlier than expected or it could simply be due to being a little dehydrated or whatever other virus/infection it is that he’s fighting…
Getting sick is never fun for anyone, but it’s also really dangerous for AJ, so cross your fingers and say your prayers that he doesn’t end up as bad off as his parents had/have it and that this is short lived and all is well!
