Day two was even better than day one! And we managed a better “school” picture since we got there early instead of a little late! I’m not sure if he did better because he got up earlier and had a chance to wake up and check out the room before the rest of the kids piled in, or if it wasn’t as jarring since he was there yesterday, or both — but his nurse reported that he had a good time. He only had a couple minor moments. And – he didn’t puke!
The only real hiccup we had was nothing to do with him really — we forget the charger for his oxygen concentrator at home and Aaron and I crossed our communications about getting it to the school. Luckily his nurse called when the machine started beep and I was able to run over there. Definitely thankful the school is so close! (He does have a backup oxygen tank there too in case of emergency, but didn’t really want to need it on day two!). When I ran it in My heart swelled though — he was happily sitting in a circle with other kids on the floor – his back was to me, his nurse was able to step away to talk to me and he didn’t even flinch or move and just kept playing. He looked like such a big boy! It’s amazing to see him with other kids…
He reportedly even sat down on the carpet and stayed there when he was supposed to later in the day, taught some signs to some of the kids (train, because they were playing with trains), they signed back to him, and he even went out for recess – where a number of his classmates happily played ring around the rosie with him until it was time to go and he was able to work with one of his therapists today too.
Feeling so super blessed and thankful today!!
