When we first received word that the staff at the hospital believed that AJ might have Down syndrome, they suggested doing genetic testing right away.
Aaron was not a fan of the idea at first. He protested, saying (rightly so) that it didn’t matter if AJ had Down syndrome or not, he’s our baby and we would raise him as such.
At some point, I remember seeing a fact being shared. A fact like the ones I have been posting this October. Thankfully it had stuck in my head well enough to bring up at this moment.
I remember explaining to Aaron that it would help us get a better understanding of what things he would be a higher risk for.
AJ, of course, does have a congenital heart defect. He also has hypothyroidism. What’s great though is that he doesn’t let any of it define him or slow him down!
