We worked hard trying to get both kids to smile at once this evening… Jumping through all sorts of hoops to get AJ to smile and Averie to look at the camera. And then when we did finally have success? The camera apparently wasn’t quite in focus… At first, I was a little bit disappointed, but the more I flipped through the outtakes I realized that A) some of them were still pretty good shots and that they absolutely capture AJ’s personality and how much his sister loves him and has more patience for him than I think a 7 year old should have, and B) as much as I wanted that nice picture? That’s not what truly matters anyway.
What matters is that God has blessed us with another year together. And this time? We’re all home. Last Christmas we were happily celebrating in the hospital, with so much to be thankful for then. And this Christmas we finally get to celebrate at home. With our normal traditions. Cookies for the neighbors. PJ’s on Christmas eve. Stockings first thing in the morning followed by pancakes and the rest of our gifts…. Christmas cards mailed out to friends and family after the holiday because things got busy… 😉 This year we get some sort of ‘normalcy’, even if our normal isn’t like the average persons. And that is absolutely more important than a pretty picture, or all of the presents underneath the tree.
We hope that all of our friends and family enjoy a nice, relaxing Christmas.
