by For her birthday, Averie got a pool from a friend. I grumbled but was secretly happy.
Aaron and I talked about it and decided to upgrade to a slightly larger one that would warrant killing off the grass, would be easier for all of us to enjoy and would hopefully last us all longer. The past couple of weeks or so Aaron (along with Brandon, Justine, and Brian) worked hard to get the ground properly leveled, the pool up, filled and chemicals adjusted properly!
We have one happy girl today! Not only did she get a sleepover with her best friend last night, but today they get to break in the (still cold because it hasn’t had a chance to warm up) pool.
Some people might see having a pool as a frivolous expense, especially given all that we have going on with AJ. We were lucky to have amazing friends who not only gifted us the original pool but chipped in to pay for some of the accessories, but we know that the water and chemicals etc aren’t cheap. Averie doesn’t really get a lot of time for things for her, and we don’t want her whole childhood to be overshadowed by the things AJ needs and requires either. Having the pool here means she can go swimming even when we can’t get her to swim lessons and the public pool. It also means Averie can swim while we bring AJ out to the patio (Aaron’s other project in progress) or even bring him out to the pool too (once it’s warmed up). We definitely could all use more vitamin D and less time cooped up inside this summer!
