by So this first video is just to show what I mean when I say he’s working harder to breathe. He puts his whole body into those breaths he’s taking. This is when he was asleep – he wouldn’t sit still long enough to get one when he was awake…
Typically, and it seems this time as well, it’s due to there being so much fluid in and around his lungs that it takes more work to breathe. He’s maintained his sats okay, but we did set the ventilator today to give him 15 breaths per minute to help him along. Hopefully overnight and into the morning he will manage to get some of the fluid off of him. It’s a balancing act to try to get him to a steady state where he’s not retaining a bunch or dehydrated since both can be detrimental to his health.
The second video… Just shows that despite everything going on, AJ is just being AJ. <3
